Missions MINISTRY
The New Light Baptist Church's Missions department is the community outreach arm of our church. With pastoral oversight to the Social Justice ministry as well as a national music ministry through the Bobby Lewis Ensemble and an international missions presence to Haiti, Spain, and Benin, West Africa, we aim to be truly God’s hands and feet in community.
Since our inception, under the leadership of Pastor Charmaine DaCosta, the missions department has developed an international ministry as we forged a relationship with several communities in Haiti where we have supported over 30 elementary school students annually. Our powerful music ministry in Spain has been credited with largely reviving the gospel and evangelical Christianity in the Catalonia region of Spain. We have sent out Missionary Tera White to participate in the World Race, an 11-month, 11-country mission trip that took her to India, Southeast Asia, and Africa working with victims of sex trafficking and communities in various stages of need to bring the gospel and the love of Jesus. Most recently our missions department partnered with the Church of Pentecost in Cotonou, Benin, West Africa. The church supports an orphanage, school, hospital and farm. We are coming alongside the Church of Pentecost in building the Kingdom of God through these various ministries. See the Social Justice Ministry page to find out about our partnerships with Habitat for Humanity, New York City Relief, our HIV and AIDS education outreach, voter registration and annual health outreach.
