How long is Sunday worship service?
Worship Service is typically 1 hour and 30 minutes or less. We open with prayer. Then we have a time of singing and praising led by our Praise team. Our pastor follows with some announcements, news, and updates and a time of communal prayer. After this we take an offering and have a selection from one of our 4 choirs, a soloist, praise dance, or another form of praise expression, followed by our Sermon and a time for reflection and response.
What can I wear?
We are a non-traditional church with an urban culture. In the Bible Jesus said “come as you are”, and that is the principle we operate by. You can come with a suit or dress, or wear sweat pants and flip flops. No one will judge you because at New Light, it’s not about us; the only star at our church is Jesus.
What if I have children?
We have Children’s Church which occurs during worship service in a separate area. Our teaching staff spends time facilitating Bible learning activities with your children.
What if I have a situation I want to discuss with someone?
Our Pastors and Ministers are available to discuss, counsel, and pray with you. Ushers are available and visible during service and they can direct you to a Pastor or minister. In addition, after every service there are prayer counselors who you can talk to and pray with. Each week there is a Minister on duty who is available for emergencies. The minister on duty for this week is on our Home Page or under the CONNECT tab. All issues and discussions are kept strictly confidential unless deemed dangerous or unsafe for you or others by the counselor.
I like New Light. How can I become a member?
At New Light we have a membership class called “Welcome to the Family”. It is an 18 week class that comes with a workbook. Upon completion of the class you will receive a Certificate and the “Right Hand of Fellowship” (That’s a fancy church term for a prayer and lots of hug from all of our leadership team.) For information about our next Welcome to the Family class please email us [email protected]
